Helen Anokhin-Mogilnay, MS, CRNP, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC is Practicing Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, dually board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner whose mission throughout the career years was to advocate for patients and their families, and provide top quality care.

Her nursing career has started over 35 years ago in the capital of Ukraine, Kiev, where she graduated from a nursing school. After she has moved to Baltimore, Maryland with her family, she continued to pursue her dream of providing care and emotional support to sick and vulnerable, and to promote health and health prevention within the communities of her new homeland. She has pursued her academic career, starting all way from point zero, once again, in order to be proficient with Western Medicine Clinical approach, bedside care, ethics and principles. She has graduated with honors and Summa Cum Laude with her BSN degree from Stevenson University (former Villa Julie College), and after many years of practicing nursing in various clinical settings and gaining a clinical experience as a nurse from Johns Hopkins Hospital, Sinia Hospital of Baltimore, practicing as a Public Health Nurse, Home Health Nurse, and a Health Director of Medical Adult Day Care Centers. Her passion for practicing medicine as an Advanced Practice Nurse was constantly dominating. She always has shared her expertise and knowledge with novus in the field of nursing through precepting new nurses and nursing students, and dedicated almost 15 years of her career as a Nursing Professor/Adjunct Faculty Member of the School of Nursing at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and Baltimore City Community College (BCCC). Through teaching and clinical experience shared with her students, she was able to build long-lasting relationships with many different hospitals and health care institutions in Maryland, and her students practice nursing statewide and nationwide now. She has received her Master of Science degree with concentration in Family Practice Advanced Nursing from University of Maryland, where she has also graduated with honors and top of her class. A Nurse Practitioner Helen Anokhin-Mogilnay, was a leading full-time provider at Harmony Family Practice, and later she continued to provide primary care services and psychiatric services to most vulnerable patients in skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, assisted living facilities and individual homes/places of residency to those who are home bound and bed bound. She has worked for leading case management primary care company such as United Health/Optum, and privately owned behavioral health practice. Her interest and passion for mental health led her to return to school and to complete the Post-Graduate Psychiatric Mental Health Program at University of Cincinnati School of Nursing, where she once again graduated at the top of her class with honors and Summa Cum Laude.

Through the years practicing family medicine and psychiatry, her focus was always on improvement of quality of individual’s life, easy access to care, early diagnosis and treatment, prevention and practicing health promotion, reduction of mortality from chronic and acute conditions with co-morbidities. She has special interest in adult and geriatric psychiatric disorders including mood disorder, thought disorders, anxiety, substance abuse related disorders, and dementia, especially young onset dementia.

NP Helen Anokhin-Mogilnay believes the optimal health state can be achieved if balance between mind set, body, spiritual state, nature, nurturing and supportive environment can be achieved. Her philosophy is based on holistic approach, and dual specialty helps to provide optimal medical care through partnering with patients and their families, and through open communication, as well as building long-standing relationships, involve patients to be an active decision-maker of their plan of care, and promoting patient education as a solid foundation for positive outcomes. Patients can expect to receive individualized approach and evidence-based psychiatric care from a provider that is easily accessible, and works closely with internists, psychiatrist, psychologists, hospitals in the community, skilled nursing facilities, home health agencies, and other community resources agencies within the state.
